ABOUT THE CHILDREN'S GALLERY
The Children’s Gallery seeks to recreate the art-critical space of a traditional gallery setting, but with a child’s experience in mind. Artwork is made entirely by children, for the appreciation of other children. Works are hung low, on their eye-level; there’s no need to be quiet, or to keep your hands by your sides as you move throughout the exhibition space.
Just like a “grown-up” gallery, we thoughtfully curate shows and hold openings for our young artists to show off their works to their family and friends. We welcome children and teens to submit their works for selection when we post open calls for upcoming shows, and help them develop and refine their artistic skills through open studio hours and discipline-specific programming in our Maker Art Studio.
Above all: we believe in the sincerity and unbridled creativity of art made by children and teens. It is our objective to make the space of the museum a comfortable and accessible one for minors. After all: they are the future of the art world, too.
